Disclaimer
- I made the notes initially based on Karmagranth 2 of 6 book series by Devendra Suriji Maharaja (following Tapovan e-classes).
- But I would be refining and enriching the notes as I go through more resources on karma like Karma ki Mimansa by Dr Manju Nahata, Books by Acharya Shri Bhikshu, Acharya Shri Mahapragya, playlist by M.S Arun Vijay ji (Veralayam yt channel), etc.
- The more we study the same thing from multiple resources, the more perspectives we get while also revising the core content!
- I would highly recommend not to treat this as a resource for studying. This is at best a good revision cheat sheet, and maybe a motivation to some for making organised digital notes 🙏🏻
- A prerequisite of this note is 1. Karma Types and Subtypes
Summary

Contents
First of all study Gunsthan (DO NOT IGNORE THIS, a lot of notes related to Karmagranth 2 are in there.)
Bandh (120)
- Based on Asrav, Karma Bandha happens, and Karma particles bind to the soul.
- Bandh Happens from 1 to 13 Gunsthan
120 Count logic
The count of total 158 is reduced to 120 when talking about bandh as below:
- (-2) : Darshan Mohniye Karma actaully has 3 types, but during bandh it is of only 1 type ie. Mithyatva Mohniye . Over time it dilutes into Misra and Samyaktva mohniye karma
- (-20) : Bandhan (15) and Sanghat (5) are clubbed with Sharir Karma
- (-16) : Varna (5), Gandh (2), Ras(5) and Sparsh (8) are 20 but are counted as 4, ie. one in each category, since their bondage is not studied uniquely across gunsthans.
So in summary : - 26 instead of 28 in Mohniye karma
- 67 instead of 103 in Naam karma.
Concept of Vichhed and Abandh
- Bandh Vicched - Meaning a particular kind of karma will no longer be bound in next levels.
- Abandh - Meaning a particular kind of karma cannot be bound in some specific levels.
Gunsthan specific bandh specs

1. Mithyatva
Total 117 is bindable karmas.
Vandh Vichhed(0)
Abandh (2)
- Jeev cannot bind Tirthankar naam karm - Because that is bound only if jeev has Prashasht Raag towards Jin wani and helping others absorb the jinwani. The jeev itself is not aligned with jinwani, then how can they have the feeling to let others have it!
- Aharak(2) - Jeev cannot bind Aharak Sharir(since we merged Bandh and ) and Aharak Angopang because it is possible only for apramatt sarvirti jeev
Uday (122)
- When karm that was bound comes to maturity.
122 Count logic
The count of total 158 is reduced to 122 when talking about bandh as below:
- Unlike Bandh, in Uday Misra and Samyaktva mohniye karma are counted separately hence they are not reduced.
- Rest naam karma are clubbed same as uday.
So in summary :
- 67 instead of 103 in Naam karma.
- Basically Uday count of 120 + 2 (coz of Misra and Samyaktva mohniye karm)
Udirna(122)
- Preponing uday of a karma that is due in future is called udirna.
- Udirna can happen only for the type that is in uday right now.
122 Count logic
Same as Uday
Satta
- Karma that is bound, while it stays stuck to the soul, it is called Satta.
148/158 Count logic
- Satta considers all karma hence 158 is considered
- 148 is considered in case in Naam Karma is counted as 93 instead of 103 by folding Bandhan naam karma from 15 to 5.
